Frühling (Spring)

It's supposed to be spring time by now, but unfortunately it still hasn't arrived. In fact, it was freezing again last weekend with a weekend of constant snow and temperatures in the order of minus ten degrees celcius. According to the locals, this is one of the latest winters in memory. Just our luck to get stuck with one of the coldest AND longest winters. The weather is supposed to be warming up, and everyone is predicting at most a week more cold weather, before the wonderful spring kicks in. We can’t wait!

Here's some photos from last Sunday - the snow is 5cm deep, enough to make really nice tracks with owen's snow buggy. It was enough also to make skiing a genuine alternative to walking.

Remember the ducks? We've had a few photos of them over the winter. Surprisingly, their seemingly futile effort to keep a hole in the ice was successful the whole winter. There's still a hole, and it's only going to get warmer from now on.

Cold weather is not enough to keep us away from ice cream, especially when there are visitors in town. See us with Sharon in an Eiscafe (cafe dedicated entirely to dessert - mainly ice-cream treats) trying out some Spaghetti Eis (Spaghetti Ice-cream). We also introduced her to some German board games and an assortment of German beers. Can't remember if we've had a post about German beers yet - there's Schwarz (Black) beers, Dunkel (Dark) beers, Hell (bright) beers, Pils beers, Weizen (white) beers...
